She has been an absolute joy. We got her at 8 weeks and have socialized her everyday of the week meeting new dogs. She does well with our 3 kids who are 2,5, and 7. Training classes have done wonders for us and helped us learn how to communicate our wishes to her in a clearer way!

Staffys are just big goof balls! They think they are little puppies and definitely act like it. They're a little dopey but it's really endearing. They will love you with all the love they have to give. They can be trained but they are definitely treat motivated and may not listen unless they know you have a treat in your hand. Staffys often get confused with Pit Bulls so they automatically get a bad rep, but they truly are just giant sweethearts!

These dogs will forever have my heart. My dog was born deaf but he didn't let that stop him! I trained him with hand signals and he was such an intelligent dog. He was the biggest sweetheart with anybody and everybody. He was so silly and very vocal. I hate how they are classified as a "bully breed" when "pits" are the sweetest, most loyal and loving dogs you will ever meet. My dog unfortunately was very sick and we had to put him down but he was a total sweetheart.

He was such a sweet and happy guy. He was so excited when I got there. He really just wanted to get out and stretch his legs so we went out and he had lots of energy to burn. We raced sometimes which he loved

I have walked multiple American Staffordshire terriers. They are very strong muscular dogs and sometimes will pull on the leash when walking. However, they are quick learners and very good listeners. I have noticed they have all been pretty friendly dogs and love attention. They obey commands and love sniffing everything outside. They have good energy and enjoy running.

I love staffies. I, personally, have never had a negative experience walking one. The only downside I've seen is that they are strong animals, so they can pull on the leash. Though many do not. Generally, they LOVE people. They're very affectionate and well behaved towards humans. They have the same response to dogs and other small animals as other dogs do: sometimes they love them, sometimes they don't want to be around them. They're just larger animals so their aggression is seen as scarier than it is- even though toy breeds are WAY more likely to attack humans and other animals than staffies. They're so sweet. Shoutout to ginger the pitbull! she's the best.

The dog I walked was very eager to explore and didn't pay me much mind. More focused on all the stuff happening outside.

I own a pit bull mix and have walked more pit bulls than I can count. They are super friendly w/ people and other canines, love to give kisses, sit on laps and receive belly rubs. A harness, such as the Easy Walk, is recommended as they are typically quite strong.

Teddy is my main squeeze American Staffordshire Terrier. He is a big ball of love and and super sweet to anyone he comes in contact with. When it comes to dogs, on the leash, well he's a bit aggressive and likes to really snap at any dog he comes into contact with. I was informed by his owner that he got attacked by two dogs while at a family's residence and ever since he's been quite aggressive toward other dogs. When you're with him one on one he's a doll and an absolute cuddle bug. He will cuddle all night in the bed with you. These breeds get such a bad rep as they are closely similar to pit bulls however they are two total different breeds.

Staffies have a tendency to be very sweet, very curious, but are strong pullers when not trained. They need mental stimulation. They are often unaware of their size and strength in comparison to other dogs since they are a bit on the shorter and stalkier side and many dogs that are at their eye level are half their weight. Many of the "bully breeds" have a tendency to have bad allergies, dry, flaky skin, and are prone to sunburn if lighter in color, since they like being outside and sunbathing.

Staff's make a phenomenal addition to the home, and are clearly easy to place as man's best friend. They are very loyal to their family, extremely attentive and crave attention and affection, and have plenty of love and energy to provide to anyone who gives them their deserved attention. They are highly energetic, and do great with outdoor activities like running (great sprinting pups), retrieving, swimming, and high focused activities. They are an easier breed to train, and once they learn, they always apply that obtained knowledge (sitting at street corners, staying at your side, no leash pulling, sitting, etc.)

I walk to staffordshire terriers at once one's name was Grace the other was Athena. They're very beautiful and strong dogs. They love attention and are super friendly with people and other animals. They have a ton of energy so make sure they get walked at least a half hour to an hour everyday

Most staffies are sweet, affectionate pups. I have found that most of the ones I walk are easily excited by other dogs. I usually try to steer clear of other dogs when on walks. Many are very good motivated, so having treats on hand is always a great idea. A lot of staffies are incredibly energetic, which may involved jumping on you or others. They are definitely a dog that will take full advantage of your walk and spend lots of time sniffing and leading the way. Overall, many of very trainable as long as you have the patience to do it. Some can be very dog aggressive without provocation, so that's something that folks should be aware of. Their grooming needs seem to be low as many of them have short coats. They need a lot of room to roam and lots of tasks or things to play with.

Both of the dogs I have met were lovely animals, very sweet and not shy or aggressive whatsoever. Both were friendly and really liked to walk. They both pulled often and hard it is amazing how strong they are. I think that using a normal collar on them is a little dangerous as they can slip out easily and when they are pulling they can hurt themselves, I would like to see them on prong collars or at least a harness so they don not hurt their necks or have trouble breathing. This might also make them easier to control if they react to anything. Very active strong dogs that enjoy their walk and exercise. Like any breed they need a good owner and lots of exercise to keep them happy. Both dogs were sweethearts big teddy bears.

The most misunderstood breed ever. They're not mean, unless they were raised to be so. Honestly, ones raised in loving homes, even rescues from abusive environments, are unbelievably sweet and giant lap dogs. They're end game is to love and be loved. Take one look into their eyes and you'll melt. In terms of walking, they are VERY strong and filled with energy, so if you get a poorly trained one or one who's not had enough exercise/entertainment, you will be in for a work out.
Pastimes
Very sweet breed. Very social dog that was full of energy and excitement. Very loving dogs that get a bad rep. They are very train-able breeds just require patience and love.
Pastimes
This breed is incredibly friendly and sweet. I have walked numerous American Staffordshire terriers and they have all been big puppies that just want attention, love and exercise. They are always willing to follow directions and are grateful for the attention they receive. However, I do think that they are the most misunderstood breed. Once during a walk, I had a lady shout at me out of her car that I should have the dog on a vest-meaning that I would have more control over her. However, this particular pup was one of the most well behaved dogs I have had the chance to walk. All in all, I think the American Staffordshire terrier is an incredible companion, and deserves to be loved as much as all the other breeds. I have one of my own and she is an absolute joy to be around.
Pastimes
This is a muscular, very fit, highly alert dog who will think nothing of jumping up onto something or over a waist high fence. They have a tendency to pull on the leash if not getting enough physical activity.

In Indianapolis, there are a lot of American Staffordshire Terriers. As a result, I have walked many of them. I will focus my experience on a particular American Staffordshire Terrier I have worked with particularly often, an older, female dog. She is a very quiet and timid dog. She has a lot of patience, and is very easy to train and work with, however she has also grown stubborn with age. Despite this, she is still very eager to please. She loves to stay by her owner's side and makes a great companion dog for him. However, she still requires plenty of energy maintenance! She is very high energy and has a very strong, fit upper body. She enjoys jogging and running, and has tons of energy every time I meet her. Despite her timid nature and the fact she walks by your side, she will requires a lot of exercise. I try to aim for 30-60 minute walks every time I see her, and hope to cover 2-3 miles each time. She enjoys running beside me for long distances, however she also enjoys sniffing around areas for extended amounts of time. I always allow her to do this, because I know exploration is good stimulation for dogs. She is also great with other people! She does well around children, but she enjoys gentle attention from adults the most. She wags her tail at passing people and walks up to them if they want to pet her. She doesn't jump on them, nor does she bark. She is very tolerant of other dogs, but doesn't get excited or curious when she sees them. She is a very independent dog! The most of her personality shows when she is comfortable at home. After walks, she enjoys running around the house, picking up toys and tossing them at your feet. She enjoys fetching toys and roughhousing around the house. She especially likes running up and down the stairs. After playtime, she likes to lay down at your feet, or sit down on your lap. She enjoys being petted by the people she loves, and will often nuzzle her face asking for attention! She has a very gentle heart and I always appreciate when I am able to see her and work with her. I've never heard her bark or be aggressive, and she is endlessly sweet. Despite her timid personality, she has a lot of personality and is very independent. She is a great example of how American Staffordshire Terriers can be quiet and gentle as well!
Pastimes
Pit bulls in general are very loyal. They love their pack, and while they do have a bad reputation, just like with any breed it's dependent on the personality. Many's pits I've walked are very affectionate and obedient. The only danger comes when they sense a perceived threat because they are extremely strong. They respond well to energy, so if you respect them and maintain calmness, they pick up on that. It's a beautiful breed and so lovely to be around.

I personally have a dog that is part American Staffordshire Terrier and he is very high energy. They are very strong dogs and tend to want to pull towards anything that catches their attention. They love to play and please their owners and overall are a very great family breed.

The puppy I walked was a male named Franklin. He was the cutest puppy ever and has so much energy! Since he's so young he wanted to bite everything from my hand to his leash. The owner's instructions were to simply take him outside for his potty break, play with him, and then feed him at the end. I couldn't take him outside of his yard since he was still young and prone to catch diseases. He loved to play fetch with sticks from his yard and run around with them in his mouth. I would run and he would immediately chase after me. You could tell he played to his content toward the end when he ate and went straight to his crate to lay down. Most people find this breed to be hostile and aggressive, but my numerous experiences with them are that they are loving and loyal dogs who can be taught great tricks and be a valued family member!

This breed comes in as many different personalities as humans themselves, so it's hard to describe Staffies in general terms. Generally strong, occasionally stubborn, sometimes VERY stubborn. So I'll break it down. First there's the puppy - 8 weeks old and a complete dear. He was timid, submissive, eager to please, and willing to walk, but mostly just wished he was back home with his owner. Then there was the 2 year-old, under-exercised fella who never did get properly trained on his leash. He pulled me like a freight train through his neighborhood and it took MAJOR finagling to make sure that he didn't come face-to-face with another dog. He would have been a fierce opponent to another dog, but with me he was sweet. Finally, my favorite, the big mama, 6 years old. This sweet dear would rather nap than walk any day, but even she has to admit that she can use a potty break in the middle of her long day. The first time I walked her I entered the house tentatively, afraid that she would resent my intrusion. She only resented that I woke her from her nap. She was afraid of the wind, so although I was nervous, the owner insisted "She's just a big baby" and said that if I pulled she would come along eventually. It turns out that that day she was afraid of the wind. We walked about .5 miles in 30 minutes, because every few steps she would lay on her back with a huge mischievous grin on her face and roll around - presumably to get dirty and punish her owner for making her go for a walk. After that I became her regular walker. Most days, when the sun is shining, she walks nicely along besides me, stopping only occasionally for a nice roll in the grass. When she's having a bad day she pull me towards her home to let me know that she's done walking. And on her favorite kind of day she doesn't have to walk at all and we just sit in her living room so she can get a nice scratch and a few biscuits. Are Staffies submissive and timid? High energy freight trains? Or stubborn old sweethearts? I guess the answer is yes. They've won me over, though, and despite their scary-looking jaws and rough breeding background, I think Staffies could use some love.

I absolutely LOVE Stafforshire Terriers. They are one of the most friendly dogs out there. I've walked multiple and every time I go to walk one, they are so freaking strong. I don't mind it, I hate people who stereotype these dogs because it's the people who make them mean, not the breed. The two I walked recently, were two sisters. They loved to jump and show that they were excited. It was a little overwhelming becuase I had two dogs jumping on me and was trying to get the harnesses on, but once we started the walk they were fine. They did pull but they just wanted to explore their surroundings. They loved squirrles and other small animals, so I just had to try to avoid them as much as I could by walking around or distracting them.

My bullies are some of my absolute best dogs. Most of them are eager just to cuddle for a minute (and give me massive kisses) when I come in the door before I even have a chance to get them leashed up and ready to go. I have never seen them anything less than overjoyed to say hello to people and kids out on the street! I do have a couple who are leash reactive to other dogs, but they are both incredibly trusting, and willing to let me distract them and shield them with no issues. The only concern I have ever had with them is that it breaks my heart when people are scared of them when we walk by, they are such love-bugs! They are strong, but walk well with either an easy walk or even a gentle leader.

On one of my walks I walked two American Staffordshire Terriers at the same time. They both seemed to be well fed, but each of them were tied to trees when I arrived. This is actually illegal in Georgia. There owners had me place them in a kennel inside after I was done, so it is possible they are not normally tied to the trees. Both were very excitable and a little difficult to walk. They pulled very hard while I was walking them to the point where I had a bruise on one of my hands when I was done. However, both were really sweet and showed no aggressive behavior. They seemed to have no triggers. We passed many other dogs and animals to which they seemed very uninterested. They did not chase them or growl.

These are amazing dogs! They are goofy little (big) play machines. One of the big things you should know about staffy's is they need to be trained! They are naturally sweet dogs, and eager to please, so they aren't hard to train, but they also have ALOT of energy, and they grow to be very big and strong, so if you don't train them, they can become difficult to control as they get older. I've walked and cared for many staffys, and they are strong, energetic walkers. You usually don't have any trouble getting them going, because they need lots of exercise and like to explore outside. The two year old staffy I walked had never been trained (she was a recent rescue) and pulled very strongly on the leash. I'm strong, but not very big, so it took most of my body weight to keep her under control when she saw a cat, or another dog. She also tended to jump up, which you need to be prepared for. They are enthusiastic and affectionate dogs. Some I have walked are aggressive toward other dogs or cats, but this one just wanted to play with everyone and everything. You can motivate or refocus them easily with treats or play time though.

American Staffordshire Terriors, also known as pit bulls are affectionate, loving and loyal companions. They often get a bad reputation due to owners neglecting them and training them to fight. Pit bulls are nothing but big sweethearts that just want to be loved and cared for. I've walked several pit bulls and they were all obidient, friendly and playful. They greet you with kisses as soon as you enter the door. They're great on the leash and usually comply with commands like "sit" or "heel". Sometimes they pull on the leash but that's normal with every dog. Pit bulls are energetic, they love playing and exploring their surroundings. They are treat motivated so if you're having trouble with training them, offering treats is a great way to help. They have a thin coat so it's fairly easy to keep them groomed. Pit bulls sometimes think they're "lap dogs" and love to cuddle up and sit on you. They're just big lovable babies, it's so precious. Overall, pit bulls are absolutely amazing and overlooked dogs. I wish the world would give them the love and attention they deserve!

The Staffordshire Terrier was the first dog I ever walked on Wag! When I entered his home, he was waiting for me behind a black gate. He looked quite curious to see me, as he had never met me, and he did not ever bark! As soon as I opened the gate, he came bursting out and started jumping all over me. He was super excited to go out on his walk, but his excitement made it hard to put his leash on. He also wanted to bite everything that was hanging. He bit his leash when I tried to put it on him as well as some of my articles of clothing. He had tons of energy! As soon as we left his home, he started pulling to wherever he wanted to go. It was a tough walk because he was so strong and incredibly energetic. He was really curious and he wanted to explore everything that he possibly could. We jogged for a little bit because he was so full of energy. During our walk, he really wanted to go wherever he felt like going. He was always super excited to say hi to any dog that came his way, but I tried to keep him away because I was not sure how he would react. He did, however, run into one little dog along the way. This little dog ran out of his house out of nowhere and tried to put up a fight with this friendly giant. It was hard to contain him only because he was super excited to see the small dog, and he did pull to get closer to him, but all he did was smell him and wag his tail. He was super nice to him, while the other tiny dog was trying to put up a fight. It was quite entertaining watching him be super nice and seeing the little dog act a little aggressive towards him. We headed back to his house after our hour spent walking, and boy, that must have been the most tired I have ever felt after a walk. Even after everything we walked and ran, he still seemed to have loads of energy. It was a pleasure walking him because he was super sweet and very friendly, but he was also super strong and he pulled most of the way. Even after we ran, he still seemed completely fine, not even slightly tired. He did not want to go back to his gate. He started jumping and pulling at the leash when he got to his house. He wanted to keep going. It was a little hard to take the leash off because he was trying to bite it because he wanted to stay outside. I took it off of him and put him behind his gate. He looked at me once more and I said my farewells.

Walking the AmStaff was a great experience. She was a puppy, but very smart and very playful. She loved to run. She was not small at all, but not too large. She was very strong. She was also very smart. Also, very affectionate. Being looked at as a pitbull, they get bad reputations, but she showed nothing but love and a great amount of curiosity. She has so much energy. She can run and keep running and super fast. They are gorgeous dogs as well. Their color variations, patterns and eyes are stunning, especially hers. She knew a lot of tricks. She knew sit, paw and the difference between left and right, lay down, high five, wave, and slow down. I can only imagine how much more they can learn.

Pits are a great breed and unfortunately widely misunderstood. I think their strength is what scares people the most about them. But with proper training, they're really just like any other big dog breed. They can be a little stubborn to train, but are usually eager to please if a toy or treat is at stake. You just need to be on your toes when you walk a breed like this because if they get excited and you're not paying attention, they could take you for a ride

She is super friendly with people and likes to jump our 7ft fence and visit the neighbors. I don't know how she does it with her tiny legs! She has a very high prey drive and I could never leave her alone with any animal besides her older sister. The squirrels purposely tease her until she tries to fly to get them. She goes crazy and will tear up everything in her way to get to mice. Love being outside except in the rain. Can't trim her nails. She tries to bite even me when I attempt it. She digs and does a lot of running on hard ground so for now it's not too bad.

When I was "given" this dog as a little pup as a "gift" I never asked for, his cute little puppy face melted my heart. I had never had a dog as a pet prior, not anytime as a responsible adult, at any rate. I didn't know anything about the breed or the requirements the dog itself has. I never worried about socialization because he was always so sweet to every other animal, even cats, and all humans hw would meet. I foolishly thought my dog must be one of the good ones naturally. That all changed one day at around a year old. His temperament toward anyone he had not already met became very distrustful and though I won't say aggressive, he became very standoffish toward new people, enough so that people would be afraid of him. To this day, he has never attacked anyone, nor do I believe he would, but new people are not interested in giving him much of a chance, and even though I do not believe he would attack somebody new, I do not know that he never would. So far as other animals go, if he knew them before he decided anyone or any new animals were a reason to get riled up, then they are and always will be friends in his eyes, same with people, he's never forgotten a friend he met as a pup. He is a difficult dog now, and I blame myself, I had no idea what I was getting into, but if you've ever had an AmStaff then you know, when he looks at you with those eyes or cuddles up to you on his back all four legs up in the air and snores like an old man, there is no going back, no rejoining to another with more experience with the breed, none of that is even an option. For better or worse, you can never get rid of your AmStaff, it doesn't matter how much you love them or how you might be doing the right thing by rehoming him, because it was never about loving him, but always about him loving you, only you and your household, and nobody else. I'm bonded with my dog, if I were to send him to another to live with, I know his heart would be as broken as mine, I know the new owner would underestimate him. I think a stranger / new owner, in a situation such as that, would end up being either being bitten or intimidated, just for not being me. That or he would escape, likely never to be seen again. Smalls is my best friend, there isn't a thing I wouldn't do for him, except regime him. It wouldn't end well for him. He is smart, stubborn, always trying to creep into the alpha spot. For example, when it's time to come in from being outside, if he isnt ready yet, he will ignore me when I ask if he's ready to come inside, turning his back to me and finding something to appear busy doing so I won't make him come inside. Only one of two things will work when he is trying to be the boss. One is food, any kind of food, anything at all, a little piece of bread, some trimmed fat from steaks on the grill, even a single piece of dog food he will instantly become super obedient sitting properly and waiting for the nomnoms. The other is if I drop the sweet talk asking if he is ready to come inside yet, I don't have to yell or stomp or chase him around like a crazy person, I just speak in a monotone flat voice and say, come inside now. He will come right inside without further delay. They say bad owners make bad dogs. I am probably a bad owner, but well intended. Smalls has never been a bad dog, just a kind and loving and stubborn and possibly overly protective dog, but not at all a bad dog.

Our dog (rescue) had her DNA checked(wisdom panel) and we were told that she is 50% amstaff and then 25% lab & chow - but she has the softest fur and her build is nothing like the amstaff - she is muscular but not stocky ... (probably a crazy question but because of the fur and eyes - yellow) would /could she be more of a labstaff or chowstaff? She is very strong willed but a quick learner and lots of energy ... she is 6 months now and weighs about 30 pounds
Answer
These tests tend to be very accurate so I would tend to presume it was correct. Cross breeds can inherit traits from any parent and some traits will be more dominant than others. If you want a 2nd opinion, I would advise repeating the test but with a different company, to confirm the results.
